We met our client through his realtor who helped him secure just over an acre site in Airdrie’s Gateway Commerce Centre. The client’s vision was for a suburban office building that would incorporate the flexibility to suit various situations and conditions.
- The space was designed to accommodate up to four separate users in a building of 17,600 square feet. The longer term goal being for the client’s business to grow into the space and be the single tenant of the space.
- Spacemakers pushed the flexibility sought by the client to another level by designing the office curtain wall glazing at the back of the building so that it can be efficiently converted to overhead doors, allowing the space repurposed from office to light industrial use
- The other vision the client had was to incorporate outdoor space into the design. The ability to effectively integrate the outdoor experience into the suburban office space can be a positive work experience for the people working in the building. Spacemakers designed the building to incorporate a patio space between the two second floor office pods, maintaining the flexibility of multiple tenants or single user.
- The design included unique elevation details, incorporating some elevation articulation and angles not commonly found in suburban office space
