I-XL Masonry required new facilities in Edmonton and Calgary and were looking for a local contractor that could Design-Build both projects.
- The new design would form a standard for I-XL and the two new locations would have the same architectural design. As such, the design was carefully assembled in concert with the client’s vision, Spacemakers’ expertise, and detailed design meetings.
- Even though due diligence, including Environmental Assessments and Geotechnical Investigations, was completed prior to closing the purchase of the site through, a coal seam was discovered during the foundation excavation. A number of requirements to deal with the situation created an economic crisis, but the Spacemakers Consulting team developed an innovative solution that satisfied all stakeholders and allowed the project to proceed.
- The Edmonton facility of nearly 29,000 square feet was completed in 2008.
- The Calgary location of approximately 47,000 square feet was completed for the spring of 2009 as expected and to the client’s expectations.
“Spacemakers were easy to work with; they managed, directed and delivered the results expected. When challenges occurred in the process Spacemakers was there to mitigate any issues and to reasonably solve the challenges, the buck stops with them. If a cost-efficient project delivered by attentive builders is what you expect, we recommend Spacemakers.”
